Producer Updates 'Elm Street', Freddy Krueger Won't Tell Jokes

I'm officially looking forward to the remake/reboot/reimagining of Nightmare on Elm Street, which will be in theaters next April. The Jackie Earle Haley casting is about as good as it gets; can you think of a better option to replace Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger?

Producer Brad Fuller has been blogging about the film during its ongoing production in Chicago, but things really heated up recently, and Fuller is letting everyone know what's up:

"So last night was one that I won't forget. We've been shooting in Chicago for two weeks and I've got some great stories to tell, but last night was the first time we filmed Freddy - the first time that we saw Jackie with all his wardrobe and make-up. It was insane."We don't have any photos of Haley as Krueger just yet, but I don't think Platinum Dunes is going to keep that secret for very long. That's not the company's style. Fuller also revealed a little bit about the performance we're going to see, which won't include the "Welcome to prime time, bitch" catchphrases we came to identify with Englund's portrayal.
"Jackie is playing to role with incredible intensity. His Freddy doesn't tell jokes, he is simply terrifying. His make-up is so awesome - obviously there will be elements that you all know so well, but there have been advances in make-up and he truly looks like a burn victim."Well, there you have it. Can't wait to see some footage from this.
