Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 12:56PM First Look at ABC's Revamped 'V'
The first question answered by this extended trailer for ABC's upcoming sci-fi series V: The Series is whether or not Juliet was actually killed on the Lost season finale. Elizabeth Mitchell is all over this trailer, so barring some kind of flashback thing, I'd say her week-to-week contributions are done on the island. ABC brass says she's going to be on both shows, but I think that's just to string along viewers on Lost. She's not part of the Oceanic survivors, so I doubt in the last season they'll spend much time on her.

The second question I had was how serious would ABC be about its reimagining of an old NBC mini-series (and extremely short-lived regular series). The answer is, well, here's a three-minute trailer. I'd say the network is pretty serious.
I do wish the effects looked better; I'm certainly not in love with those elements. But I loved the mini-series 20-whatever years ago, so maybe they've found some good things in the original narrative to exploit.
Here's what you can expect this fall on ABC:

I thought I was watching Independence Day there for a second.
wow that screams movie more then series.
WOW!!! I feel like a kid again. I loved V. This will either be really good or really bad. Lets hope for good. However, yet again TV nor Hollywood can come up with an original idea.
hm... it is a tad like independence day, but i guess since this was a series before, it's independence day is like this series. ok, sure.
looks cheesy, but so did Lost when their trailers first came out. Hopefully they'll still do some more editing to make it better. I'll stay optimistic
the show looks ok so far. it does have two good things going for it though. number one and the biggest is Morena Baccarin and second Alan Tudyk!!!!! dam i miss firefly.
unoriginal idea aside (it's so common, why bother rehashing?), applause to ABC for taking a chance on a sci-fi series. it's risky, but if they invest heavily in character development (which they will do because it's a series), then it has a chance.
Independence Day was actually based on the motherships from V, 13 years earlier.

Considering that ABC hasn't fielded anything that I watch for a few years (except the first season of "Lost," and the quirky "True Beauty"), first of all thanks for making sure I didn't miss this series when it debuts. I always wanted to see "V vs. ID4," so at least a CGI remake will make that showdown a little easier to imagine. Airwolf could arbitrate ;).
Pretenama, out!
