Here's a movie you won't mistake for High School Musical: Chilean
filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky has spent the past several days grabbing money from investors at
Cannes to fund his upcoming King Shot, which according to Empire will be "a
metaphysical spaghetti western." Mmmmm...metaphysical spaghetti...

There have been metaphysical westerns before, notably Jarmusch's Dead Man, but none of them have been co-produced by David Lynch or have starred Nick Nolte and Marilyn Manson. Yeah, that's legit; he's a star now in the dope show.
When you think about it, though, Manson (née Brian Warner) has been acting for over a decade. His entire public persona is a character to some degree. Nolte, when motivated, can still be a tremendous asset.
If you're unfamiliar with Jodorowsky, it's probably because he doesn't work that often. If you're under 30, he's only made three films in your lifetime, and King Shot will only be the director's seventh film in 40 years. The 80-year-old Jodorowsky will begin filming the $7 million western this October with a cast that also includes Udo Kier and Asia Argento, who don't exactly crank up the normal on this project, do they?
Having said all that, how can you not be interested in what the end result will be? You've got a shock rocker and Nolte in a metaphysical spaghetti western directed by a guy who makes Terrence Malick's output look like Woody Allen. It will probably never be an in-flight movie or anything, but I'm extremely curious about what Jodorowsky creates with this.
