Trailer - How 'Star Wars' Changed Things in '77'

I didn't think Fanboys did much to ingratiate itself to non-Star Wars fans, but '77 looks like it approaches Star Wars as a story element in the life of someone rather than someone's life revolving around Star Wars. That's a big difference if you're in the audience.

To be sure, there's plenty of George Lucas in this story of a young small-town filmmaker who loves the movies and loves, loves, loves, sci-fi. To Pat Johnson (John Francis Daley), May 25, 1977 just seems like it could be the best day in the world. As he says, "In the movie theater, there are no cliques," meaning his inner geek is the same as everyone else's.

I think Daley has shades of Zach Braff here, but not like Scrubs season four - present Zach Braff; I meant the comparison as a compliment, actually. Take a look for yourself:

Even though it was filmed a couple of years ago, '77 has no release date or distributor yet, although maybe with enough online attention it can find a place on someone's roster. Find out more about the film at its official website.
