What Good is a 'Buffy' Movie Without Joss Whedon?

This seems to me to be the worst idea imaginable. I mean, bring back Buffy the Vampire Slayer as a movie - that doesn't bother me at all - but to do it without Joss Whedon? That is development suicide. Fran Rubel Kuzui, who directed the original film based on Whedon's script, is involved in the remake of the first movie, with Vertigo Entertainment producing. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "The new Buffy film, however, would have no connection to the TV series, nor would it use popular supporting characters like Angel, Willow, Xander or Spike." There's no studio involvement, no script, no writer, and no star. And it's also pretty much bullshit as far as I can see. For the life of me, I can't imagine having this idea take off instead of one that Whedon might come up with. Now, Whedon has been cool on the idea of bringing the story back as a film, which we reported just a couple months ago. But is this really the solution? A movie spin-off of the series would have serious fanboy love, but going back to the beginning of the franchise without SMG, without Whedon, without the very elements that established the fanboys in the first place, seems like a pretty barren cash grab to me.

I can see doing a buffy film without all of the tv characters if they are going to do a 'origin story' but what I can't see is Joss Whedon not writing and directing. I wouldn't watch a Buffy film without him being involved in a serious capacity... writing and directing would be a must to make me buy a ticket. This doesn't mean we can't have a new buffy, new supporting characters and definately a new villain because in their defense we don't really need to see more of Xander, Willow, Angel and company because hasn't the series and the spin-off really exhausted a lot of their stories. A re-boot of the franchise makes sense to me as long as Whedon does the re-boot. I mean, come on, how good was Dr. Horrible, the guy should get carte blanche on anything he wants to do (including a Dr. Horrible feature, which would be legen - wait for it - dary, legendary).

Sadly fanbase was not enough have Serenity make any money.
Still a Buffy movie without Whedon does sound like pure madness.

a new buffy movie will be bad withiut the original actors spike angel willow as to be in the movie who gonna play buffy whitout sarah michelle gellar we dont know yet we need more information we have to keep the same opening music theme
