Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 5:28AM Kind of a Big Deal: 'Anchorman 2' Being Discussed
Over the past five years, there has been as much talk about an Anchorman sequel as there has been any of Will Ferrell's new movies since then. And even though Ferrell, Steve Carell, and Paul Rudd have all seen their careers take off since 2004, they have always mainted if the right script comes together, the Channel 4 news team would be back.

Moviehole reports that Ferrell appeared on an Australian radio show to discuss Land of the Lost and said that everyone involved will meet next week to discuss whether or not to move ahead with a sequel. While I respect those of you who don't want a sequel because it could tarnish Ron Burgundy, I'd frankly sit through a bad Anchorman 2 than another Bruce Almighty or Blades of Glory.
I've been fairly certain it would happen for years. I've been able to talk to everyone in the cast while they were promoting various projects ever since, and the response has always been the same. Ferrell and Adam McKay have plenty of avenues to go down, but with everyone coming back, it would have to be a sequel, and I would imagine it would have something to do with network or cable news, the next logical step in the timeline.
It doesn't hurt, of course, that Ferrell has carted out Ron Burgundy from time to time, as recently as last year in public appearances. I'd bet good money this will happen, but we may not see it for a couple of years.
In a related story, I stumbled onto some video of a former TV anchorman named Jim Jensen several weeks ago, and have been meaning to get your reaction to it, but there hasn't been a reason to mention Anchorman until now. Watch either one or both of these videos and tell me this guy is not, top to bottom, the genesis of Ron Burgundy. He even reads the teleprompter incorrectly.

Wow, wow, just wow. The abortion part was probably my favorite. What a gem you have shown me! Thanks so much. Love you on the Mike O'Meara Show. You're reviews are awesome and snarky.
"I know that one day Bree Walker and her freaky ass lobster claws and I are gonna to get married on top of a mountain, and there's going to be flutes playing and trombones and flowers and garlands of fresh herbs. And we will dance till the sun rises. And then our children, who will most likely have crustacean appendages will form a family band. And we will tour the countryside and you won't be invited."
Awesome stuff.
Growing up in the LA area, I can believe that I don't remember Jim Jensen. But, we weren't much of a Channel 2 family, usually had it on Channel 4 with Colleen Williams and her gray skunk stripe in the hair. Didn't pay much attention to Bree Walker until she married Jim Lampley. Anyway, thanks for the clips, them MUST be the genesis for Ron Ron Burgundy.
