In a year full of sci-fi, Duncan Jones' Moon is getting a lot of attention
even without blockbuster potential. But the throwback science fiction story starring Sam Rockwell has
definitely piqued the interest of a lot of our readers and has been a summer film mentioned consistently
since its Sundance debut in January.

The good news is that more people will now have a chance to see it. Variety reports that the
movie's production company, Liberty Films, and British sales agent Independent, have reached deals
throughout Europe and Asia for Moon this summer. We won't go through all of the companies bringing the film to each territory, but we can tell you Sony will distribute the film in Italy, Spain, and countries in Latin America and Asia (with the exception of South Korea).
Other countries added to the impressive release schedule for Moon now include France, Benelux, Turkey, Poland, the Russian CIS, Scandinavia, countries in the Middle East, all of German-speaking Europe, Greece, and South Korea. That's a great sign for the kind of small movie that can't always rely on the guarantee of this kind of widespread release before it opens in the U.S.
Speaking of the U.S., Sony will unveil Moon in the states on June 12th and in the U.K. on July 17th.

This looks like it might be a sleeper hit ala Slumdog last year.
Probably not as rousing as that one, but if Sony doesn't drop the ball, which has happened on smaller films in the past, it could have a good run.
