Danny McBride Has a Hunch About 'Hench'

Danny McBride is enjoying a very fast climb. The star of Eastbound & Down and a supporting player par excellence in many of the comedies the kids love has signed on to star in the Warner Bros. adaptation of the comic book Hench.

Sayeth Variety, "McBride will play a football player who suffers a career-ending injury and needs a job. He signs on as henchman to a successful villain." Man, he's getting mileage out of the former athlete character, isn't he?

McBride will write the script with Shawn Harrell, who has worked on some episodes of Eastbound & Down, which will return to HBO for a second season. The crux of the graphic novel is that instead of focusing on the supervillains and superheroes, we see the world through the eyes of their usually anonymous hitmen.

Hench, written by Adam Beechen with art by Manny Bello (or as Variety mistakenly credits him, Maria Bello), was released back in 2004. McBride can next be seen in Land of the Lost opposite Will Ferrell.
