Portman Joins McBride, Franco in 'Your Highness'

Natalie Portman will showcase her comedic skillz in Your Highness, the summer comedy starring Danny McBride and James Franco. Variety (via Coming Soon) says the film will shoot this July in Ireland. Portman will play a warrior princess (although I rather doubt she'll do a lot of fighting, given the makeup of the movie) that Danny McBride's arrogant, lazy prince falls in love with. If there's a kissing scene, I'm going to throw stuff out the nearest window. McBride and Franco will reteam with Pineapple Express director David Gordon Green on the film, which McBride co-wrote with Ben Best. Your Highess is shooting for a 2011 release. For Portman, it's another chance to play a little against type and show the kind of range everyone thought she might have prior to the bungled George Lucas experiments. Her SNL appearance hinted at more straight ahead comedic touch than we probably would have believed, but she hasn't really had a film role yet that has played to that very much. From the description of Your Highness, it sounds like she'll play the "girl" role, and those can be pretty limiting, but I hope she gets a few scenes to showcase something.
