Terminator Salvation is set in 2018, with John Connor (Christian Bale) leading the
human resistance against Skynet and the machines. Director McG, who has already signed on for the fifth
Terminator movie, says that instead of moving the franchise forward chronologically, his next film in the
series might be a return to the present.

Speaking to Film Journal (via The Playlist), McG says he strongly suspects we'll see John Connor in 2011 for
Terminator 5. This would be the first time in his chronology that time travel is possible; the Terminators
who came from the future in the first trilogy were all sent back well after 2011, but because that's such a vital
piece of the puzzle, seeing where it begins makes a lot of sense.
McG has a idea for the fifth movie, and from my vantage point, it makes a lot of sense:

"John Connor is going to travel back in time and he's going to have to galvanize the militaries of the world for an impending Skynet invasion. They've figured out time travel to the degree where they can send more than one naked entity. So you're going to have hunter killers and transports and harvesters and everything arriving in our time and Connor fighting back with conventional military warfare, which I think is going to be fucking awesome." "I also think he's going to meet a scientist that's going to look a lot like present-day Robert Patrick, talking about stem-cell research and how we can all live as idealized, younger versions of ourselves."We've heard the Robert Patrick stuff before, so this is another clue of what McG has in mind for him, and this could be the movie that really illustrates exactly how the machines took over, with the culmination of all of that coming in a sixth movie, presumably. It does raise the question of whether or not Christian Bale would be in that fifth movie. I guess he would, but he'd have to somehow appear seven years younger two or three years later.

Um, do you read your own quotes?
"John Connor is going to travel back in time and he's going to have to galvanize the militaries ..."
If he's going to travel back in time, he would not be seven years younger now, would he?
Brilliant reporting, there.
The time he travels back to will have a seven years younger John Connor, not that the reporting is necessarily taking that into account.
you know what i think you should just use christian bale just make him look a little older he looks more like john connor from terminator 3 rise of the machines just older and christians a fantastic actor so use him for the fifth installment MCG forget all that stuff you just said before about you next installment of termintor its all confusing what you said and dont make sence i believe you should make the next movie when kyle reese john connors father played by no other than michael behin whos in a time now when its 2029 10 years later from terminator salvation and anyhow kyle reese vollunteers to go back in time to protect sarah connor back in 1984 in LA and thats how terminator five should start about how kyle reese goes through what he did to get sent back through time that will make the terminator movies more interesting kindve gives you a perspective of what went down in the future and MCG by doing what i said for your next movie will open more possibilities for the next movies you know what i mean just think about the story i layed out for you and you have it alot easier and make people alot more happy because terminator salvation was badass one of the best terminator movies that ive seen and directing my story will make it all worth while i assure you it will
