Christina Aguilera Does 'Burlesque'

Christina Aguilera has picked a project that should be perfect for her, agreeing to star in a
contemporary musical called Burlesque. It's the singer's first movie role, and it's a big one, although the
movie's plot sounds a little like Glitter to me: Small town girl hits the big city, wows everyone with her voice,
etc.

Xtina did provide her voice for Shark Tale several years ago, and the logic probably was that she would parlay that into some more movie roles, but she waited a while, and now she's got a script revised by Susannah Grant, which should appeal to women, and the promise of burlesque shows in the movie, which should appeal to men.
Screen Gems boss Clint Culpepper told Variety, "I couldn't be more excited, as this was a project written with her in mind," and the smaller studio should be over the moon at the possibilities for this based on the success of Obsessed, its surprise hit starring Beyonce Knowles.
To her credit, Aguilera didn't go the Britney route with some teenybopper nonsense at the first sign of success, so we'll see if it was worth the wait for her. And for us.
