Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 12:10AM Robert Rodriguez Hires 'Predators' Writer
Many moons ago, Robert Rodriguez wrote a spec script for a Predator movie that never got made. In the past few weeks, however, Fox has dusted off that script and is
letting Rodriguez use it as the foundation for a new reboot called Predators, which the
auteur will develop, removing most of the hyphens from his usual title.

Rodriguez currently has no plans to direct, but he will produce. And now Bloody Disgusting say
Rodriguez has hired Alex Litvak to write a new draft of the script, which obviously features more
than one Predator, but will keep the American commandos in place.
Litvak doesn't have a mountain of credits, so I guess he interviews well. He edited a short film
back in the 1990s, produced the 2007 movie The Hunting Party, and currently has his script
for Medieval in pre-production for McG, with Danny McBride and James Franco set to star.
Predators could be a very cool re-imagining, particularly if it maintains much of the
construction of the original, which is one of the great popcorn sci-fi action movies of the 1980s.
You always worry about what they'll screw up on these things, but Rodriguez knows what he's doing,
so we'll give him some leeway on the project.
