De Niro, Norton Reteam for Psychological Thriller

A couple of years ago, John Curran directed the Edward Norton movie The Painted Veil. It was not a success, although it had a few good things going for it. Odds are better that people will pay to see Stone, a psychological thriller that Variety says has added Norton and Robert De Niro to its cast.

The film will be based on the play of the same name by Junebug writer Angus MacLachlan, and will develop the complicated relationship between a corrections officer (De Niro) and a convicted arsonist (Norton). The complication? According to reports, De Niro is shtupping Norton's wife while he's inside. Hey now...

There is history with De Niro and Norton, of course; they co-starred with the late Marlon Brando in The Score back in 2001. We keep hoping for a good script to land in De Niro's lap or for him to rediscover the instinct to find one. It's been a while.

Stone is the first film for Mimran Schur Pictures, a new production house led by David Mimran and music business executive Jordan Schur. There's no word yet on when the film might go into production or what studio(s) might be interested in picking it up, although with the stars and director attached, that becomes an easier process.

It's about time Ed...you are a real actor not just a celebrity; everything you touch is gold in my opinion and you should have your hand in every film in making. Temper they say but I would get frustrated as well if I were in the heat of Hollywood productions. You are a passionate actor, a genius..You know what you are doing; I love the way you take films to a deeper level in human experience. My fav is the psychological thriller; can't wait!. I read somewhere you have been playing cards w/ the best and winning.Yes take their money; at least you will put it where it needs to go. Find me next time around will you?
