Friday, May 8, 2009 at 4:02PM New Interactive Poster for Gerard Butler's 'Gamer'
The new Gerard Butler movie has undergone a few name changes in the past few months. It was originally called Game, a reference to the fact that it's about a real life video game. That was apparently not sufficient, so it became Citizen Game for about three weeks. That's a terrible name, so they've changed it again.

Now the film is called Gamer, and if that fails to register with audiences, might I suggest Gamey? Just a thought; file it away, Lionsgate.
There's also a brand new poster christening the name change, and it moves - how cool is that? We've seen some interactive posters before, and I give this one a C. I like the idea, I get what the purpose is, but I don't think it reveals enough. You'll notice that you can scroll away parts of Gerard Butler, revealing Logan Lerman underneath, the inference being that Butler is being controlled by the kid playing the game.
Game On! or whatever it winds up being called will be in theaters on September 4th. It's by the Crank team of Neveldine and Taylor, which could suit the material very well, since both Crank flicks are essentially video game movies, anyway.
