I can get behind this rumor, as much as I can get behind anything related to an A-Team movie. When John Singleton was on board to direct, Ice Cube lobbied hard for the role of B.A. Baracus. I hate when actors lobby for roles, particularly guys like Ice Cube, whose recent screen work makes Ben Stiller look gangsta. But Singleton's off the project, and Ice Cube is out of the question, but another rapper-turned-actor has emerged. IESB recently learned that incoming director Joe Carnahan may prefer Common for the role made famous by Mr. T. And to really stoke the fire, the site asked Common specifically about The A-Team and the possibility of working again with Carnahan, who directed him in Smokin' Aces. "I would love to, just to work with Joe is so exciting for me I just had such a great experience," Common said. "I feel that he is one of the freshest directors and innovative guys and fun, he is a quality guy, quality director and man, I just want to work with him." Common does say that if he's cast in the film, which has yet to even reach the offer stage, don't expect him to do a Mr. T. impression, and forget about him sporting a mohawk. "It's a new day, you just got to give it something new. The kids don't know that B.A. so you wanna bring something new to it and you want to pay respect to B.A. and the way B.A. was created, too. I believe there is a way to find a combination, I have certain similarities to Mr. T already. We are both from Chicago, we are both rebels in our own way. I could really get that, I could really get that." Can I tell you how much more I like this approach than Ice Cube dying to grown out the mohawk? I just can't take O'Shea Jackson seriously anymore.
