'G.I. Joe' Extended Clip Still Short on Appeal

Yeah, I'm no longer feeling G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. I gave it a little benefit of the doubt because you can never be too sure what a gigantic budget will get you, but now I've seen a short and a long version of this clip and the signature moment is the Eiffel Tower falling over. So what? Seen that kind of thing done dozens of times. It's not impressive anymore.

Oh, sure, I couldn't replicate the same effect on my computer, but that's hardly the point. Watch some Transformers footage: They're basically making the Eiffel Tower run, jump, and fight against other Eiffel Towers. Just watching one fall over feels played out to me.

About all that's left, then, is what they can do with the characters. There are about 20 of them, though, so good luck latching on to more than a couple. I will say one thing: It looks like they've cast Sienna Miller as The Baroness just about perfectly.

I don't know if you'd call this a bad sign, but in the credits, the great Jonathan Pryce is listed only as "U.S. President." You can't even give the President a name? What's that take, like an addition six seconds? That sort of thing concerns me, perhaps more than it should.

Anyway, G.I. Joe opens in August, and if we find more convincing clips, we'll be sure to share them with you.

I think I became extremely worried once they started showing those accelerator suits.
Also with the big budget, is that really the best CGI can do?, 5th element, hell blade runner had more believable looking vehicles.(hint models and props top CGI anyday use it to sell the models, not repalce them)

The accelerator suits bother me but they need a gimmick... ok a bucket of gimmicks to make this work which probably doesn't bode well from a story standpoint. Then again perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself in thinking such but I highly doubt it. Let's just hope there's plenty of Sienna to be seen.
