Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 7:40PM Halle Berry to Be Paul Verhoeven's 'Surrogate'
Halle Berry may star in the new Paul Verhoeven film, The Surrogate, or at least that's what Variety is saying today. It would be an interesting choice now, since Berry just had a child last year.

The film is not to be confused with Bruce Willis' Suroggates, and is instead a kind of Hand That Rocks the Cradle family thrilla based on the book by Kathryn Mackel:

"Kyle and Bethany Dolan reel from years of infertility, miscarriages, and finally, a disastrous hysterectomy. They are desperate to find the perfect surrogate mother to carry their last frozen embryo. Sable Lynde, a computer genius with a dark history, is desperate to escape her own inner demons, her dark past, and a dangerous loan shark. Sable assumes the identity of a surrogacy candidate so perfect that the Dolans welcome her into their family without reservation."There's more to the synopsis, available at Mackel's website, but you get the drift: A psycho broad is carrying their baby and they don't know it. My assumption would be that Berry would play the surrogate mother, and my assumption would be wrong; The Hollywood Reporter says she'd take the less showy mother-in-waiting role. Rod and Bruce Taylor (The Brave One) wrote the adaptation and for Verhoeven, it's the first studio-backed project since Hollow Man back in 2000, and we all know how well that worked out.

"Hotness," what we should expect? How about a provocative kissing, crotch and booty grabbing scene in front of everybody?
Uh...excuse me?
