In 1986, nobody saw Heathcliff: The Movie. But since you missed the adventures of everyone's second favorite cartoon cat from the 1970s and 80s, you'll get another chance. I know I just made your day.

Yes, apparently, Magic Lantern Entertainment and FitzRoy Media have heard our constant calls for a new animated talking cat film and will, according to Variety, give the audience what it wants: More goddamned Garfield...I mean Heathcliff.
"He's not your typical cuddly kitty cat," cautions Magic Lantern's Jeff Segal, perhaps even with a straight face. "He's a really cynical, wisecracking character who has a contemporary perspective we could do a lot with."
This is all a reaction to Alvin & the Chipmunks, the way G.I. Joe is a reaction to Transformers, although that's a much stronger property in general and as a movie in particular. But Chipmunks made an obscene amount of money, and now they're all coming out of the woodwork for their shot at movie gold. Still, this one surprises me because I don't recall Heathcliff ever being all that popular in the first place.
