Guillermo Del Toro Starts Filling 'The Hobbit' Cast

I'll give Guillermo del Toro credit for this much: There might not be a director working today who gets more coverage for revealing absolutely nothing. It's an important skill, actually, because it keeps his name and his projedts out there. Del Toro clearly understands the value of of publicity, and recently made headlines by saying he'd have something to announce about The Hobbit soon. Keep in mind, it wasn't the announcement but the announcement of the announcement. Genius.

And he's making headlines again, even though it's still not exactly the announcement we're waiting for. The One Ring checked out a BBC radio show in which del Toro admitted three Lord of the Rings favorites will pop up in The Hobbit: Ian McKellen, Hugo Weaving, and Andy Serkis.

Again, what we're really waiting for is the grand proclamation of who will play the role of Bilbo Baggins. Del Toro's pre-announcement was that the news would be revealed in the next few weeks. So we're still waiting on that and in the meantime, he confirmed what most of us probably already believed to be true.

And here I am writing about it. He's a genius, I tell ya.
