Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett in 'The Runaways'

They're still casting The Runaways, a bio-pic of the influential all-grrl band from the 1970s, but the one role they absolutely knocked out of the park was picking Kristen Stewart from Twilight to play the legendary Joan Jett. Now the first on-set shot of Bella Swan as the teenage Jett has made its way to Jezebel: Whether or not you play the Twilight game, Stewart has shown potential for years. Because Jett is the most notable Runaway, you have to have someone in that part who can absorb a lot of the spotlight, even though it's by definition an ensemble piece. We've also heard that Stewart's New Moon nemesis, Dakota Fanning, will play her bandmate Cherie Currie. We're still waiting on an announcement about who will play Lita Ford, the other principal member of the band that went on to enjoy solo success. Ford, you might recall, ceremonially broke down the censorship barrier on the word "laid" with her 1988 hit "Kiss Me Deadly." Perhaps you're like me and you're wondering how Stewart can be all Jett-blacked with key members of the band not yet announced. I got nothin'. But it certainly seems strange. Lita Ford will be portrayed by Alessandra Torresani, Sandy West will be portrayed by Stella Maeve & Cherie Curie will be played by Dakota Fanning, respectively... The Runaways will be directed by Floria Sigismondi of music video fame. Will be interesting to see how this film will be played out... I really hope they don't turn it into a 70's "Sisterhood of Traveling Pants" with rock music, hope they try to do something edgy with the storyline.

Ha ha 70's "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" Oh the images that fraze threw in to my head-LOL!! When I first heard about this movie it got my intrest, so I'll be checkin it out. I just hope it doesn't suck......too bad.
