Friday, June 12, 2009 at 11:08PM Michael Moore Surprises Audiences with New Trailer
Michael Moore has pulled off a pretty effective stunt. The trailer for his new
documentary about corporate greed in America premiered tonight in theaters showing The Taking of Pelham
123.
According to /film, viewers in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington D.C. were prompted by Moore
in the teaser to help out our struggling CEOs with a cash donation. And then the big surprise came: Ushers
filed into the selected theaters with collection plates, reportedly wearing shirts that read, "Save Our
CEOs."
While I'm sure there have been interactive movies in the past...has there ever been an interactive
trailer? Here's the video; maybe you can persuade family members or friends to play ushers.
The crowds had some idea something was up; they were informed that there would be filming in the theater and that admittance was seen as a viewer's consent to be filmed. Still, the end result had to be something of a surprise.
Moore has made some great documentaries and some pretty average ones, but even if you can't stand the guy
- which is perfectly understandable - this is a pretty good way to kick off a marketing campaign for a documentary. The still unnamed film will be in theaters on October 2nd.

i worked on a film that used michael moore's production offices.... the best thing about it, aside from the location, was the fact it was well supplied with first aid products and there was an enormous binder full of take out menus.
Imagine that.
