At Last - Roy Rogers Returns to the Big Screen

An entertainment company is hoping for many happy returns for "Happy Trails." In an odd bit of nostalgia jumping, a trio of films and other spin-offs based on the persona of Roy Rogers has been announced by 821 Entertainment. Rogers, a star of serialized westerns back in the day, will be featured in a trilogy using the catch-all title, King of the Cowboys, according to Variety.

Company CEO Eric Gaedelmann says 821 can do pretty much anything it wants to with Rogers' likeness, name, and image. That includes the movies as well as plans for an animated TV series, an interactive game, and several other merchandising efforts.

"[The trilogy of films will] not be a biopic, and will not be a traditional Western, but rather a family fantasy adventure. Roy Rogers, Dale Evans and Trigger are quintessential figures of America, and we will introduce this franchise to a new audience while capitalizing on the millions of Roy Rogers fans worldwide."I suppose there's a potential for money here, but nothing like the goldmine Rogers maintained half a century ago. Eventually, that empire led to a group of Roy Rogers Restaurants around the country, of which about 50 are still in business.
