Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 5:29AM Beautiful Poster for 'The Time Traveler's Wife'
For a movie that seems bound and determined to attract the female audience, the poster for The Time Traveler's Wife is particularly eye-catching. It's not just Rachel McAdams - though, admittedly, that doesn't hurt a movie poster - but rather, it's a combination of a lot of things that just work well together.

We showed you a G.I. Joe poster this weekend that looked like a nine-year-old designed it, but this one has an excellent mix of colors, light, and the inverted positioning of its stars, both vertically and horizontally. I guess it doesn't violate the Rule of Thirds principle of photography, but put it this way: They didn't shoot the movie with McAdams crouched against the left side of the frame. But it's certainly effective here.
The only thing I don't like is the credits in the upper half. McAdams' name should be right-justified with Eric Bana's (and not touching his shirt), and the title looks cramped. Otherwise, this a very good effort, I believe.

I agree with you on Rachel McAdams' name. It shouldn't be touching his shirt but other than that I love the poster, I think it works well for the movie.
Yeah it looks beautiful and has depth and an illusion kinda quality to it..
Nice post Colin..
The name of Rachel McAdams touching his shirt is a bit too trivial but I do agree the writing of the title is cramped but the poster is very creative, good work..
I hope there will be some marketing dollars behind this film, it looks like it will exceed my expectations for it..
I'm glad that this author pointed out the way the names are positioned. I wouldn't have noticed it. However, I disagree completely that it is oddly placed. The story is about how difficult it is for these two to get their lives together, they are out of sync. And her name touching his sweater is perfect, too, because her character spends the entire film trying to reach out for him. It's poetic and beautifully done.
