New Italian Poster for 'Inglourious Basterds'

We'll have to see if The Weinstein Company ends up asking to cut 40 minutes from this new Italian poster for Inglourious Basterds, but in the meantime, here's a variation on some of the images we've already seen from Quentin Tarantino's seventh film, his upcoming World War II Nazi hunting epic.

Click the image above to see the whole thing. It's fine, in my opinion. Doesn't compare with the set of posters that came out around the time the film debuted at Cannes, but I understand you have to get Brad Pitt on there. I think if they'd used an approach similar to what QT and Rodriguez had at their disposal for Grindhouse, which produced some of the best posters of 2007, this could have been really, really cool.

As for the U.S. release, it may be shorter than it was at Cannes, and I'm all for that. Save your big three-hour dialogue fest for the DVD. Perhaps if it does well in the trimmed version, it will get a full-length awards push, which might be smart business for Weinstein and Universal.

We'll see some version of Basterds on August 21st.
