'The Bride of Frankenstein' Will Rise Again

Universal, which is reimaging some of its famous monster movies of the good old days like The Wolfman, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Guillermo del Toro's eventual Frankenstein remake, is setting its sights on another classic. The Risky Business Blog at The Hollywood Reporter indicates that da U might move forward with a new Bride of Frankenstein to be directed by Neil Burger (The Illusionist).

There have been attempts to remake it before, including an effort several years back to make it a fairly contemporary story. I hadn't heard of that one, and I'm not sure it would work as well as the old style monster flick.
What doesn't make sense to me is that Del Toro's Frankenstein is likely years away, thanks to his work on The Hobbit. By the sound of this article, The Bride of Frankenstein is not five or more years away. Since it's the same studio, wouldn't you re-introduce Frankenstein first and try to tie both movies together?
Maybe that is the plan, but since Burger's Universal pic, Dark Fields, is currently on ice (a result of Shia LaBeouf's hand injury), it sure doesn't seem like this is on the books for 2014 or later. I'm excited that Universal is remaking these films, because they really have kind of faded into obscurity with younger moviegoers over the past decade or more. So anything that could lead people back to the originals is fine by me.
