First Teaser Trailer for 'The Last Airbender'
Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 4:29AM
As teaser trailers go, I give high marks to Night Shyamalan's The Last
Airbender. It's on the way next summer, so the timing is pretty good for Paramount, which can
now start looking ahead to 2010's popcorn season with Transformers arriving in theaters
tomorrow.

The film is based on the Nickelodeon TV series, and it marks Shyamalan's
first adaptation, and the timing is pretty good for that, too. Here's a guy who has frustrated
millions of movie fans with his past three films (Signs sold more tickets than The
Village, Lady in the Water, and The Happening combined), so leaning on a well-established story is probably a sound strategy.
There can be a few films in the Airbender series, which follows a boy thrust into an ongoing
battle to save the Water, Earth, and Air nations from the Fire Nation. You can see what the Fire
Nation is all about in the teaser:
Paramount has big plans for this one, opening The Last Airbender on July 2nd.

You just made my son's morning there Mr. Boyd :D
Well, it's his first family adaptation as a director...didn't he write Stuart Little?
I know fans of the source material are excited, but as for me. "ooooo, a kid who can blow out candles! And a bunch of computerized boats! Ooooooo!" *rolls eyes*
I am not a fan I do know of the show existence but have never watched.
I enjoy the preview, it has my eye fro now.
Wait I'm confused. Isn't James Cameron doing Avatar? I thought they were the same source material or is it a coincidence?
Avatar: the last Airbender is a cartoon
James Camerons AVATAR is a movie set way in the future, more marines I think original story
The Last Airbender is a movie based on the cartoon Avatar the last Airbender.
