Friday, June 26, 2009 at 6:05PM Trailer - Ricky Gervais in 'The Invention of Lying'
There are a couple versions of the brand new trailer for The Invention of Lying, a kind of spin on the setup of Liar Liar that stars and was co-written and co-directed by Ricky Gervais.

I'll admit Gervais is an acquired taste, and he rubs some people the wrong way. I'm not one of them, so I'm really looking forward to what he can do here, as the guy who tells the world's first lie and benefits wildly from the practice.
We don't see everyone in the cast in the trailer, but we get a fair amount of Jennifer Garner, Rob Lowe, and Louis C.K., and that's not a bad place to start. I said there are a couple versions of this trailer. Here's the longer one:
The Invention of Lying opens on September 25th.

that looks really promising, I'm gonna remember that one. I like the idea a lot
"Ghost Town" was a solid, underrated and overlooked film from last year, and this has many of the same charms and humor that made that film a delight (not to mention more Ricky Gervais).
I only saw a snippet of the trailer (I don't watch trailers for comedy movies- they tend to give away every good joke) and it already looks smarter than most of the comedies of recent months (though nothing will top "The Hangover"). I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for this one.
Ricky Rocks! Thanks for the heads up on this on Colin!!
