Alan Cumming as the Green Golbin in 'Spidey' Musical

When Spider-Man, Turn off the Dark debuts on Broadway next February, Evan Rachel Wood will be its Mary Jane Watson. That's not surprising; Wood has embraced talk that she would be a part of the mucial, brought to the stage by her Across the Universe director Julie Taymor.

But what is news is the selection of Alan Cumming (the X-Men movies) as Norman Osborn aka The Green Goblin. Cumming is a multi-faceted guy so this could be a great choice even if I wouldn't have initially thought of him.

However, we still don't have a Peter Parker. That role's kind of important. I'm beginning to think it may not actually be Jim Sturgess, who played opposite Wood in Across the Universe and apparently has or will do some table readings, but his name has been linked to this project for a long time and there's been no movement. It still could be Sturgess, but at this point, it wouldn't be a terrible shock if someone else slung webs.

Did I mention Bono and the Edge wrote the music for this? I'm not sure it's their strong suit, akin to writing an extremely wordy concept album, so while it's cool they're involved, it may be a different story come February.
