More 'Hitman' Sequel Details Emerge
Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 12:25AM
Earlier this week, it was announced that Fox was pursuing a sequel to Hitman,
a fair but not exceptional video game adaptation. The primary problem with the first film, in my mind, was
a reticence to go all in. Timothy Olyphant was good casting but the story wasn't as crisp as it could have
been and the studio didn't exactly throw tons of money at it.

So maybe that's a void this sequel will fill. It was rumored and is now confirmed that Kyle Ward will
write the script, and he's becoming something of a specialist in this field, working on the Kane and
Lynch adaptation as well as the freshly minted movie version of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.
Because there's a lot of Hitman history to cull from, it's important to know what we're going to
see next, and according to Variety, it will draw inspiration from the fifth game in the series, due
out next year.
In the sequel, Agent 47 "must build himself back up psychologically and physically to reclaim
his mantle as the world's most feared assassin." Presumably Timothy Olyphant will return as Agent 47, but the director remains an unknown.
