Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 8:04AM New Clips from the Iraq War Movie 'The Hurt Locker'
One of the year's more anticipated independent films will arrive in theaters across the nation soon. The Hurt Locker officially opened this weekend in four theaters, and as we get into July, Summit will expand its run considerably.

It's worth checking out, so we thought we'd share a few clips with you. The movie stars Jeremy Renner, who gives truly one of the year's best performances, Anthony Mackie, and Brian Geraghty. They're explosives specialist in Iraq, meaning their job - and primarily Renner's - is to defuse IEDs. No thank you.
The Hurt Locker is directed by Kathryn Bigelow, and she gives this a real immediacy. It's shot brilliantly and is exceedingly well-acted. I know the war movies have done poorly over the past five years or so, but this one needs some support. It's a great film, so find out when it's playing in your city and go check it out. You won't be disappointed.
Now, about those movie clips...

Kathryn Bigelow's movies are always good. After all the crap I've seen this summer, it would be nice to see something that doesn't disappoint.
Any word on when this will be released in Phoenix?
July 10th in Phoenix. Also, regarding Kathryn Bigelow...someone must have forgotten that she directed K-19.
I've been waiting for this one since the first trailer premiered. Then I got worried when I saw that it wasn't opening wide. Glad to hear that it will be expanding. Any idea the exact day it will be opening in central NY if at all?
I think it's already open in New York.
How can there be new clips? The movie came out in 2008, why is it only opening in the states now?
