Better International Trailer for 'Gamer'

International trailers don't always show us much more than the domestic ones, but Gamer does offer us a few new scenes that I don't think we've seen to this point. There's more attention paid to Gerard Butler being a man caught inside a video game, rather than just the video game itself.

Because it adds a little more of an emotional connection to the character amid all the mayhem, the appearances of Michael C. Hall from Dexter as the villain, the brilliant billionaire behind the condemned-men-in-a-spectator-sport concept gains a little more traction.

I don't get the sense that this film is jumping out of computer monitors and grabbing audiences by the throat, so it may be a case where this just attracts the fans it was going to attract anyway and never builds much of a crowd beyond that. But if you've been unconvinced, watch this new trailer from Crank creators Neveldine and Taylor. I'm not saying it will change your mind, but it's the best example we've seen so far.

Gamer opens on September 4th.
