Like most horror movies this year, The Haunting in Connecticut did pretty well. In fact, outside of the two franchise movies - Friday the 13th and My Bloody Valentine - Connecticut made the most money internationally. So what's next? Do I even need to tell you?

There will be a sequel, and there are already plans to make a trilogy, provided the second movie has robust business. Bloody Disgusting writes that Gold Circle Films has acquired or will soon acquire the rights to A Haunting: The Diabolical, a Discovery Channel documentary that ran three years ago. It's a slightly different story, but like Connecticut, ties in a real world problem to the supernatural. In this case, it's mental health and not cancer.
The new title for the film version would be The Haunting in New York, and then the series would work its way down the eastern seaboard for The Haunting in Georgia, which probably has nothing to do with the Atlanta Braves winning 14 straight division titles but only one World Series.
Both sequels would deal with children facing spirits from the netherworld, and actually, as far as that stuff goes, it sounds like Gold Circle is trying to create a pretty good franchise here. There's not one set villain or set of circumstances, but a mountain of strange, unexplained tales. And somehow connecting it to the protagonist having some problems in the physical world is a smart move, too.

I find it ironic that out of the two films that they could make a sequel to, Lionsgate runs with a sequel to "Haunting", not "Valentine" (which would make sense to base a sequel off of- I mean the ending pretty much guaranteed it). The "sequel" is super tenuous at best to; they're somehow related because of supernatural occurances? So therefore it becomes "The Haunting in [Insert Town Here]" Starring [Pretty Boy from a CW show] and [Award Nominated Actress Who Needs the Money].
Ok guys, have fun with that. I'll be over here, starting a petition for Raimi to quit making "Spider-Man" movies and finally release "Evil Dead 4".
Well, it's better than resurrecting faceless killing machines over and over again.
i freaking hated that movie with a blinding passion.
