Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 2:49PM New Logos for Marvel's 'Avengers' Movies
Forgot to throw this out there yesterday, but Marvel released the logos for its Avengers arc, which includes the Iron Man sequel, Thor, Captain America, and the big superhero buffet in 2012. I suppose since there's no Ant-Man logo, even though that's one of the many characters rumored for the Avengers flick, that Marvel might be whittling down its heroes for the first movie. And that would be a great thing.

Tough to really judge or dissect these, but I will say Captain America has, to my eye, the coolest logo of the bunch, and Thor does nothing for me whatsoever. Does that mean anything? No, but I do think it's interesting that Captain America being developed as a post-WWII period piece has the most potential of any Marvel character who doesn't yet have a movie while Thor is potentially troublesome.
While we're on the subject, man, I hope they don't botch Cap. Gotta cast it right, gotta develop the character, and gotta embrace the period piece elements rather than make it a giant effects spectacle. There's room for that, too, but less than in some of the others.
