'Total Recall,' 'Short Circuit' Join Remakeapalooza

Rather than update each new remake individually - and there are two making headlines today with more to come in the afternoon, I'm sure - I thought I'd just give you a big, fat list of remakes recently announced or updated. Maybe you missed some of these along the way.

Total Recall
Short Circuit
Guys and Dolls
Romancing the Stone
Red Dawn
Straw Dogs
Arthur
True Grit
Cliffhanger
Videodrome

Girls Just Want to Have Fun
Drop Dead Fred
The Warriors
Barbarella
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Flight of the Navigator
Blood Simple
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The Mechanic
Tell No One
Let the Right One In
The Lives of Others
Re-Animator
The Neverending Story

There are more, of course, but you get the drift.

looking forward to NONE of them...least of all Drop Dead Fred, Red Dawn, Cliffhanger, and The Neverending Story (which WON'T seem to ever end!)...

How can they re-make 'Let The Right One In' already?!?! That movie seriously came out like 10 min. ago.

Are people really that lazy that they need an english version of the film? total waste of time in my mind.. and they will never top the one already out.

I guess when Hollywood sees dollar signs, they run back to the closet for old movies instead of thinking of an original idea. Some of these might be good as remakes, but I can't see how they could remake Blood Simple without the Coen Brothers.

Even tough Star Trek is making lots of cash, let's keep in mind the horror that was the remade Day the Earth Stood Stil.

Zhang Yimou is supposedly remaking Blood Simple, which is odd. But since he's a better director than the Coens by a smidge, I don't really mind that one. Source material's great. What's really weird is the Coens are the ones remaking True Grit.

Can you really top the opening of Barbarella? Will is spawn a new band call Duran Duran too?

True Grit? What the hell are they thinking? Who can possibly fill the Duke's boots on that one? I like the Coen Bros., but that is not right.
