First Look at Dakota Fanning in 'New Moon'

Surely, a year ago, Summit Entertainment didn't know exactly what it had with Twilight. But the upstart studio will try to bottle lightning a second time this fall when New Moon is released on the same weekend as its predecessor.

We've seen a few photos, a poster, and a trailer, but one thing we haven't seen, at least until now, is new cast member Dakota Fanning. She plays the evil, sadistic vampiress Jane, a good role for Fanning, who is no doubt trying to shake the image that she's still six years old. This isn't a one-time appearance for Fanning, either; Jane's going to be with us in the next three films, by my reckoning, or at least in New Moon and Breaking Dawn, the final installment.

Dakota was recently photographed on set, and I don't think we're seeing her in full effect here. But if you're a fan of the series, you might be curious to see where they're headed with Jane.

New Moon will be in theaters this November, and the Eclipse is due out next summer.
