'Dragonball' Evolves: There Will Be a Sequel
Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 9:42AM
From the You've Got to Fucking Be Kidding Department comes the news of a Dragonball sequel. The first film in the...uh...series was Dragonball Evolution, a name that obviously hints at future installments. Apparently, American audiences didn't get that hint, since the movie made less than $10 million here in the states.

But James Marsters, who plays Lord Piccolo in the movie, told a fansite (via Cinema Blend) that a part two is imminent. "I’ve just heard that I can actually tell that there is going to be a sequel,” he said, apparently without a hint of shame.
So how could Fox justify another outbreak of the plague? Simple: It was big in Japan.
I was surprised when the international receipts for Dragonball started coming in this spring and it looked as if it would do really well in the Asian markets. I recognize that it got its start in Japan, but I would've thought the overpowering American influence on what was originally a Japanese product would have doomed it. Not so. It made nearly as much in Japan as it did in many more theaters in the U.S.
Just because a sequel will apparently get made, that doesn't mean it will be released in America. In fact, I'd be kind of taken aback if Fox goes that route again. That studio has been an easy target over the past couple of years (less so in 2009, however), but any of its bean counters has to see that money spent in the U.S. would be money wasted. All parties concerned are better served with a massive marketing blitz in Asia and that's it.

VERY ODD...
HAHA I love the You've Got To Be Fucking Kidding Me Department HAHA
You what my take is, that they should STOP immediatly..
I mean Justin Chatwin or whatever the guy had a major career boost with his part in War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise and frickin Steven Spielberg he should be getting great roles now than ever before, but instead doing this nonsense...
Same goes for Emmy Rossum or Emma or whatever... I always liked her since Phantom and the film with Jake Gyllenhaal... She's hot too but this is not a smart move in my opinion...
WHATEVER
Haha...I like that department too
I bet we could get a story once a week from that department without trying to hard.
