Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 5:51AM Zooey is a Virginal Princess in 'Your Highness'
Guys who can't get dates must be sky high about the news that two of the girls
they covet the most, Natalie Portman and Zooey Deschanel, will appear in the same film. It's David
Gordon Green's Your Highness, which stars Danny McBride and James Franco.

Portman was announced several weeks ago, but Empire carries the news that Zooey, daughter of
the estimable Oscar-nominated cinematographer Caleb Deschanel, will play Belladonna, "the virginal
wife of a noble knight (Franco) who accompanies his arrogant doofus of a brother (McBride) on
a quest to save their father’s kingdom."
McBride's character becomes obsessed with Portman's warrior princess along their journey. I know
they're not going for historical accuracy - I think Danny McBride kind of gives that away - but an
army filled with Natalie Portmans sure wouldn't stave off Visigoths very long.
The addition of Deschanel is kind of a last minute thing; Your Highness goes into production
in Ireland in nine days. For an anachronistic comedy, I sure like the cast, and
McBride co-wrote the script with Ben Best, his Eastbound & Down collaborator.
Right now, the film is scheduled for a 2011 release, but that makes almost no sense. Universal's going to keep it on a shelf for over 18 months? I'm shocked it's not on the studio's summer 2010 slate. I can't imagine the post-production needed that much time, so maybe they'll move it up a few months.
You can see Deschanel later this month in (500) Days of Summer, and you really should.

Well, I don't know about that... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8e6-IeQ0aw
Visigoths were susceptible to rap?
LOL ...they'd surely be shocked by it and then the chairs would fly at their befuddled heads.
