Brad and Angelina Pursuing 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith 2'?

A Mr. and Mrs. Smith sequel? Sure, OK by me. The original not only made several hundred million around the world but still frays Jennifer Aniston's nerves. And for what it is, it's entertaining enough, if not good enough to justify the worldwide hype and a house full of kids. There's a rumor that Pitt and Jolie are plotting a return to the spy series...however, we must tell you that the "news" comes from The National Enquirer. That doesn't mean it's not true, but I think you know by now that it doesn't mean it is true, either. The story goes that Pitt has approached Simon Kinberg, who wrote the first movie, to come with an idea for a sequel that involves - surprise, surpise - a bunch of kids. If that's true, and I hope it's not, then that's a little too much of a vanity project, not that it wouldn't be already. What worked well in the first movie was the Brangelic chemistry and some pretty good action scenes directed by Doug Liman. There's no word on whether or not he would return, but I doubt it. Even though the film was a success, he wrankled some studio bosses by coming in over schedule and over budget. It's something to keep an eye on, because at least part of the rumor is believable. And in an environment that hungers for surefire hits, you would think this idea qualifies.
