New Photos from Mike Judge's 'Extract'
Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 1:38PM
A couple of weeks ago, I had a chance to talk to Clifton Collins, Jr., who has had a threee movies in theaters already this year (Sunshine Cleaning, Crank, Star Trek) and we'll have that interview for you in the next few days. One of the films he has coming up later in 2009 is Mike Judge's Extract, the director's first movie since Fox buried Idiocracy in 2006.

The movie stars Jason Bateman, which is a great start for a comedy, as a man at the center of several ongoing storms - his workers at an extract plant are trying to take advantage of him at every turn and his wife (Kristen Wiig) is having an affair with one of his workers, who looks like he's still in high school.
There are a few new images from the film, released through Cinematical and Collider, featuring Bateman, Wiig, Collins, the lovely Mila Kunis, the lovely J.K. Simmons, and Ben Affleck, in a surprising turn. Check out the new shots:

At first, I hated the idea of opening this on Labor Day weekend, but really, it's an ideal weekend for a workplace comedy. Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself, though; this is the same weekend Fox "released" Idiocracy into a handful of theaters. Maybe Miramax will do a better job. Seems hard to do a worse job.
