Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 4:31PM Seth Rogen Opens Fire on 'Entourage' Creator
With my reaction to all the Green Hornet screw ups, it would be easy to presume that I hate Seth Rogen. I don't. I think he has a very limited appeal and was fortunate to work with Judd Apatow, but I don't deny that the appeal is there for some people. He's no great shakes, but I understand it. I am, however, growing increasingly tired of him.

The latest has nothing to do with Hornet but rather Entourage, and in particular, a name-calling baby fit the Funny People co-star has thrown regarding the creator of that show, Doug Ellin. Apparently, Rogen's looks were the butt of a joke on a recent episode of the HBO series. His ugliness was dubbed "oddly fascinating" and the very real art-imitating-life discussion of whether or not a functioning Katherine Heigl would ever look twice at Rogen took place as well, perhaps mirroring a conversation you had with your friends two years ago.
But Rogen is upset that his appearance is jokeworthy, saying, Yeah, those guys are assholes. I actually ran into Kevin Dillon in a
Starbucks. And he’s like, ‘You know, I’ve got to kind of apologize because apparently the guy who
created our show doesn’t like you so much.’"
Rogen added, "I said, ‘Well, I have reason to believe because I think Doug Ellin is a moron from all I can understand so it makes sense he doesn’t like me.’"
A few things: A) What are you, a 14-year-old girl? B) Why does Ellin being a moron preclude him in any way from liking you? C) Don't you make fun of your own appearance pretty much constantly? Isn't part of the reason Knocked Up has the dynamic it has a direct result of how a guy who looks like you really wouldn't play in Katherine Heigl's league? Didn't your character in Observe and Report have to drug Anna Faris to get her into bed because, again, you look funny?
Where's the argument? If anything, he should be flattered that he's in the zeitgeist. There's more from Rogen, though.

"I’ve kind of said some disparaging things about the show. Although, in our defense, (Entourage producer) Mark Wahlberg called us misogynistic in an interview, so I think they kind of started that (battle). It’s on. Luckily I never have and never plan on watching Entourage.”I think Wahlberg is misguided in his assessment (he reportedly called Knocked Up "a dumb, misogynistic movie"), but he's not alone. I've heard that talk before. But how does that effect Doug Ellin, the moron? Also, look back at Rogen's last missive; he's said disparaging things about the show but then acknowledges that he's never seen it. So who's the moron?

You're better than to get down in the proverbial gutter with them even by way of anecdotal reporting. Don't make me come over there Colin, seriously.
I'm just saying, what circular logic gets you from "Wahlberg calls us misogynists" to "Some other guy's a moron and he must be a moron because he doesn't like me"?
There is some bitterness behind all of this.
The "real issue" is that Rogen, a while before Entourage was picked-up, had the basic same idea for a show (probably inspired by his own life), brought it to HBO, and his pilot was rejected.
Anyway, I like Rogen in general. Usually makes me smile in his movies, and seems to have a good vibe comming from him, judging by the audio commentaries/Interviews.
His reaction is kinda suprising though. Obviously some bad blood behind all this, and possibly some egotism.
Because it's not like Seth Rogen has ever participated in a movie that mocked real-life Hollywood celebs... I've enjoyed some of his movies (more so the ones where he's in the supporting cast, like 40 Year-Old Virgin), but the guy's a one-trick pony.
Also: Didn't Katherine Heigl call Knocked Up misogynistic herself, anyway?
Bah. Just do your thing, semi-funny man. Don't get all serious and whiny on me.
yeah and you are trashing a guy whose face is all over your own web site promoting what? another seth rogen movie.
who is the moron now
I guess all bets are off that Seth Rogen will participate in a cameo appearance on the show.
Dude BEANS is a bit of a moron himself...
Colin runs a website that brings about FILM NEWS, this is news that the community wants to hear/read...
Whose a moron now...
ANYWAY.... Seth Rogen dude, your losing your credibility and fans to be honest...I mean with all the junk regarding Green Hornet and now your talken smack for nothing...
Interesting that you fail to mention what a no-talent hack Doug Ellen is, with his years-old pop culture references- and how you don't seem to call out Bill Maher for being a whiny b*tch on a WEEKLY basis (speaking of hacks who have dull and boring HBO shows)...
