Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 5:35AM Great Advice from 'Cabin in the Woods' Posters
Given how well Joss Whedon plays the game of planting buzz and building anticipation for the projects he's working on, it stands out to me that we haven't seen squat for The Cabin in the Woods. Now, technically, he's just writing and producing that film and his protege Drew Goddard is directing it.

Goddard is not an unknown quantity, though, and in fact between writing Cloverfield, episodes of Lost and Alias for J.J. Abrams, and his work with Whedon in the past, Goddard is probably long overdue for a shot at directing.
Cabin in the Woods has been described as a horror movie and a thriller, but the new posters that have been released hint at a genre-bending horror comedy along the lines of Scream or even Evil Dead. Can't really tell on the basis of three posters what the tone of the movie will be, but I think that's what they're trying to sell.

Cabin in the Woods opens February 5th. More stuff to follow, hopefully rather soon.

Probably an ironic statement to every common horror movie. I mean how many times have we seen this stupid split up scene in a horror movie which leads to a one by one killing spree of a monster/killer/alien. Or the must-have sex scene while someone/something makes funny noises outside your tent (wave Friday the 13th). Hopefully "Cabin in the Woods" has something better to offer.
