Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 6:03AM Great New Trailer for the Coens' 'A Serious Man'
The new trailer for the Coen Brothers' A Serious Man has a good beat and you can dance to it. You'll see what I mean in a minute.

Now, as for the film, Joel and Ethan will debut it in Toronto, and I'm thinking it's the most independent film they've made in over 20 years. No stars. No ties to a previous film or published work, and almost certainly a lower commercial expectation than their last movie, Burn After Reading, which made $161 million worldwide.
There's not much to say about the trailer; it's your basic ordinary man in extraordinary circumstances, even if the circumstances only seem that way to him. But for the first two minutes of this movie that we've seen, I think they'll stick with us for a while. There's certainly not another trailer this year trying to get your interest the same way.
A Serious Man opens on October 2nd, and even though I don't know a great deal about it, this looks like the sort of thing that helped Joel and Ethan Coen establish themselves in the first place.

Awesome. Looks great! Nice to see a Coen Brothers movie with unknown actors in it.
Mmmm... but the trailer for Burn After Reading looked great too but the film was bland.
I am actually a great fan of the Coens, but the first half of their filmography is a lot better than the second half.
I do hope they find their style again.
