Less Than Fantastic 'Mr. Fox' Trailer

Stop-motion is back in a big way, and who would have ever guessed that? First there was Coraline, which is still one of the better-reviewed movies of 2009, and now there's The Fantastic Mr. Fox, directed by Wes Anderson. Yeah, yeah, Rushmore/Royal Tenenbaums Wes Anderson. And who would have ever guessed that?

Voicing Mr. Fox in this big screen version of Roald Dahl's classic is George Clooney. He's never voiced an animated flick so far as I know, but he has done tons of commercial voiceovers and is a good pick for something like this. Cate Blanchett was supposed to voice his wife, but it's Meryl Streep, which certainly can't be ruled a downgrade.

The new trailer is out for Mr. Fox, and I just get a sense Anderson has tried to reinvent a perfectly working wheel here. It doesn't look bad, but whereas Coraline seemed to be alive in that stop-motion world, it kind of feels like an anchor to me here. Could be just the restrictions of a trailer, however.

The Fantastic Mr. Fox will be in theaters on November 13th.

I'd say that looks great in an intentionally retrograde way. What I mean to say is that I doubt Anderson is looking for a real life gel, but an odd Rankin-Bass look. Also very funny, if more slapstick then I would have thought.

One of my favourite books as a kid made by one of my favourite directors. I'm loving every second of the trailer and I agree with knives, I think it's an intentional throwback kind of stop-motion look... I think its amazing that even though the film is stop motion is still looks like a wes anderson flick, anyone who doesn't believe in auteur theory need only rent his oeuvre. Fantastic!

it is clearly shot at less frames per second the it should of been. Caroline looks smooth because of good animators, and at least 30 FPS so it doesn't seem to jump around like this one does. I dont know if thats intentional or not, maybe just bad animators. it bothers me a lot just because I'm a visual person.

I´m not a big fan of Mr. Anderson´s work but a really dig the music in his films. Seu Jorge singing Portuguese versions of David Bowie´s songs in "The life aquatic..." was Hilarious!

Also, I think George Clooney was the voice of the doctor who kills Kenny (You bastard!) in the south Park movie.
