Friday, July 31, 2009 at 7:40AM Eli Roth Wants Pitt, Brolin in His Sci-Fi Flick
Splat Pack director Eli Roth, who can be seen in QT's Inglourious
Basterds in a few weeks, recently spilled the beans to io9 about another project he's working
on and even played the dangerous game of dream casting.

As you may know, particularly if you follow the career of the Hostel director, Roth has been
developing a sci-fi film tentatively titled Endangered Species. The goal is to have it ready
in about a year-and-a-half, and it's being geared to a wider audience than Roth's earlier works by
shooting for a PG-13 rating.
He says he has written roles for specific actors, and for Endangered Species, he'd like to
use two of the most in-demand stars in Hollywood:

"Well there's this guy Brad [Pitt] I just worked with, it would be wonderful to work with him again. Josh Brolin I'd love to work with him. Big fan of Josh and we each other's work and have been looking for something to do together."The advantage Roth has over just some guy with a good script is that he does know Pitt and Brolin, and the combination of those two actors could be enough to convince them to do it, especially if they like where Roth's script is coming from. Again, this is just dream casting, which directors don't normally do publicly. Plus, having seen Roth's three most recent writing-directing projects, there's a good chance the script blows. If that's the case, you could probably expect Pitt and Brolin to pass. But at the rate their careers are going, I wouldn't be surprised if the two recent Oscar nominees do wind up on the same set before long.
