'Twilight: Eclipse' To Begin Production Next Month
Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 2:08AM
I don't need to tell you that Twilight was one of the big success stories of 2008. Just in case: $37 million budget, $382 million worldwide, plus all the DVDs and merchandise sales.

Sequels were inevitable, of course, since the book is part of a series. But it's a little surprising that Summit decided to crank the next two installments out. New Moon has already filmed and will be released on the Twilight opening weekend of November 21st. Eclipse, which will mark the third director to go behind the camera on one of these, is set to open about a year from now, on June 30, 2010.
Now, Parallel Universe says Eclipse will make its way into production on August 17th, keeping the cameras rolling until Halloween. And then, of course, it's off to do the media grind for New Moon, which will be especially true for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Both are filming non-vampire movies at the moment, so there goes that essay on what they did on summer vacation.
Like New Moon, Eclipse will shoot in Vancouver, but it will be the first film in the franchise to aim for summer box office dollars. Hard to predict that it won't do well in its new season, though.
