Cobra Commander Pops Up in a 'G.I. Joe' Trailer
Monday, July 6, 2009 at 7:25PM
Before we get to the good stuff, I have to say I've watched, I dunno, six or seven clips/trailers/commercials for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and am seriously unimpressed. At first it looked OK, but how damn long is the Eiffel Tower scene going to last? It's in everything, so I gather it's a good 60% of the movie.

Now on to the highlight: We finally get to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who I never would have imagined as Cobra Commander. That might be a great bit of casting, although he was b-a-d playing evil for a good director in John Madden's Killshot, so maybe this goes the other way. Now, I say we get to see him, but that old saying about a picture lasting longer is true, which is why I've trapped Cobra Commander in his natural habitat for that image above.
Oh, the trailer is also in Japanese, so you'll see those subtitles. Otherwise, get ready to blow up that Eiffel Tower again!
G.I. Joe will be in theaters on August 7th.

Haha... I just spied this clip on another site before dropping back over here, you are a quick man Mr. Boyd.
"At first it looked OK, but how damn long is the Eiffel Tower scene going to last? It's in everything, so I gather it's a good 60% of the movie."
I figure that Eiffel Tower scene was shot from no less than 200 different angles which were then pared down to oh 199 for the film. Toss in regular speed, slow motion, reflection off of characters' eyes, eyewear etc, a bit of staccato stop motion still frame shots and instant replay complete with John Madden Telestrator action of just how the tower gets taken down... again and again and there you have it. The play stands!
Oh and Arnold Vosloo as Zartan! Can't beat this movie with a stick, it will promptly flog itself first.
