Optimus Prime Goes for Laughs on Letterman

If you missed David Letterman last night, there were a couple of highlights. For one, Hayden Panettiere looked as good as I've ever seen her look, and she was promoting I Love You, Beth Cooper, which is not being aggressively positioned by the studio for some reason. The second highlight was the Top Ten list. The Top Ten is really creaky these days. In its defense, name me a comedy bit that's run every night for 25 years that is bakery fresh. Plus, I think it's fairly well-documented that Letterman isn't trying very hard anymore for the same reason. Anyway, last night's list was the Top Ten Things That Sound Cool When Spoken by a Giant Robot, as delivered by Optimus Prime from Transformers. About a third of the list is good, which is decent number anymore. As I recall, the best of the "When Spoken" Top Tens is the Top Ten Things That Sound Creepy When Spoken by John Malkovich, which is about a decade old. It's worth looking up if you've never seen it.
