Michael Moore Names His New Econumentary
Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 9:30PM
We've known for a while that Michael Moore was making a documentary about the economy. Last month Overture pulled a stunt where a trailer of sorts played in certain cities, and Moore asked moviegoers to pitch in and help our CEOs. The move was complete with people passing around the collection plate. Effective. But we didn't have a name until now.

Moore's new documentary will be called Capitalism: A Love Story. The director says his movie has everything you need for a perfect date movie. ""It's got it all -- lust, passion, romance and 14,000 jobs being eliminated every day. It's a forbidden love, one that dare not speak its name. Heck, let's just say it: It's capitalism."
I would encourage you to see IOUSA, which is similarly focused, doesn't have Moore's very specific authorship, and is incredibly instructive. Given that it was produced before the banking crisis and the bailouts, that makes IOUSA an even more effective film.
Still, Moore knows how to rake the muck, and if the economy improves a little bit, maybe we'll laugh knowning laughs when Moore wants us to.
