RomCom 'Valentine's Day' Now Has the Anatomy of 'Grey's Anatomy'

It's now time to move the romantic comedy Valentine's Day into the rarely used "Gutwrenchingly Girly" category. McDreamy has joined the cast.

Personally, I have nothing against Patrick Dempsey. In particular, I admire that he was a juggling champion as a kid. But you don't see his name in connection with a lot of gritty heroin movies. Hard to begrudge a guy for riding the money train, but Dempsey's pretty much a specialist at this point in his career.

The Hollywood Reporter says he'll play a doctor - to dumb it down even more for the target audience - who is dating the character played by Jennifer Garner. One problem: He's married and she doesn't know it. That's an unhappy Valentine's Day.

In addition to Garner and Dempsey, the heavy duty cast includes Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jessicas Alba y Biel, Shirley MacLaine, Bradley Cooper, Ashton Kutcher, Topher Grace, Emma Roberts, and Hector Elizondo.

A separate report has another Grey's Anatomy actor, Eric Dane, signing on to play a football player struggling with whether or not he should retire. They were going to cast Brett Favre, but he's busy struggling with whether or not he should retire.

I think this whole thing just sounds reprehensible. It's not even a movie, just an opening weekend. Could there be a bigger, more obvious play for your girlfriend's attention than this cast in a romantic comedy opening on Valentine's Day?
