Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 8:14PM Bill Hader Says 'MacGruber' Movie Will Be Hard R
Insisting that because it's a funny character expanding him to a feature film isn't "a stretch," Saturday Night Live cast member Bill Hader says that MacGruber movie will not only work, but it's also going to to push the envelope at the ratings board.

Hader is not MacGruber; that's Will Forte. But Hader was more than happy to discuss some parts of the MacGruber flick with New York magazine. He was careful not to reveal too much but did explain what it will be like, rather than what it will be about.
Jorma Taccone is directing the movie, which he and Forte co-wrote with John Solomon. Kristen Wiig will reprise her role as Vicki from the sketches, and Ryan Phillipe and Val Kilmer are reportedly involved, as well. The film is supposed to shoot this month, prior to the fall return of Saturday Night Live.
Said Hader of the filthy, filthy screenplay:

"It's hilarious. It's kind of in the vein of, like, eighties action movies, like there's a very definitive bad guy. I don't know if I can talk about the plot too much, but it's hilarious. The thing that kind of blew my mind about it is that it's like a HARD-R movie. I was like, 'What is this? This is fucking ugly. You guys are really going to do this?' And they're like, 'Yup.' And I was like, 'That is awesome. That is fucking hilarious.'"It's possible, I suppose. There's no real definition to anything within the sketches that can be limiting on its own, so if they can find some structure beyond the repetition of the skits, then there's hope. But I doubt it will be a very consistent movie, just because Will Forte is far from the best writer that show has ever seen (I saw Brothers Solomon). If it's better than Mary Catherine Gallagher: Superstar then it won't be the worst SNL movie ever made.

Imagine it being told in a voice of Brian Griffin.
Are there a lot more films coming out with the R rating or is it just that many within the last 12 months have been high profile?
